Batts Combe quarry supports outdoor learning in Cheddar
Our Batts Combe quarry in Cheddar has donated materials to a local school to help support wellbeing and outdoor learning.
Axbridge First School hosted a DIY SOS themed community day to refresh its underused outdoor space into a safe, welcoming and purposeful learning garden.
Batts Combe quarry donated three tonnes of 10mm gravel to the project and parents, grandparents, children and staff took part on the day to tidy up the area and prepare it for the gravel to be laid.
“We are incredibly grateful to Heidelberg Materials’ Batts Combe quarry for its generous donation of gravel,” said Dominic Shillabeer, Headteacher at Axbridge C of E Academy.
“The donation has not only helped us improve the physical environment but also strengthened community spirit, showing our children the power of generosity, collaboration and social responsibility in action.”
