Fossil hunting in the rain: local geology group visits our site
We recently welcomed a group of 16 fossil enthusiasts from the Holiday Property Bond group to our site, following a request from a local geologist.
Unit Manager Adrian Wood and Assistant Manager Eleanor Cheseldene-Culley kicked off the visit with an introductory presentation about the quarry, how we extract and process materials to make our products, and the key safety measures we follow on site.
After the briefing, we loaded everyone into site vehicles and headed over to the primary stockyard. There, several heaps of different face rock were waiting – the perfect spot for some hands-on fossil hunting.
The weather certainly wasn’t on our side, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. As you can see from the smiling faces in the photo, everyone made the best of the conditions and enjoyed the opportunity to explore the geology of the site up close.
We were delighted to receive very positive feedback from the group, and the visit was a great opportunity to showcase both our operations and the fascinating natural history hidden in our rock.
