Hamlet’s web boost

Residents living near Lancashire’s Ingleton quarry could soon get a fast wireless internet connection, thanks to Heidelberg Materials funding.

The company agreed to help the remote Chapel-le-Dale community, which is 2.8 miles from the site and in north Yorkshire, after county councillor David Ireton wrote to John Austin, north operations manager for the aggregates’ division.

Councillor Ireton said the hamlet and its surroundings currently only had a slow web connection.

Under a scheme offered by ilovebroadband, which is also supporting the project, the area would be covered by an extension to their network with the installation of three wireless repeater towers.
