Work to establish a permissive path linking Glynoch to the Darren Ddu Road

We will shortly be starting work to set out a permissive path linking Glyncoch to the Darren Ddu Road.

Firstly, contractors will install two kissing gates – one at the point where the permissive path meets the Darren Ddu Road (point A on diagram below), and the other at the end of the permissive path where it joins an informal pathway across Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCTCBC) owned land (point B). Path markers will also be installed along the length of the permissive path.

The next phase of work will see the dry stone wall (point C on the map below) reinstated using the reclaimed stone currently being stored on site. This work will require material being brought through the gate in the palisade fence, as well as the permitted use of any necessary machinery.

The work forms part of our planning permissions for Craig-yr-Hesg quarry and has been approved by RCTCBC. It was initially scheduled to take place earlier this year, but we decided to delay starting to avoid the school summer holidays. The programme of works is expected to take a few weeks to complete and, while we hope to keep disruption to a minimum, we appreciate your patience while it is being carried out. Understandably, our contractors’ primary concern will be safety and so we ask pathway users to respect any guidance given.
