Spending a penny: Donation brings village toilets back into use

Our Shap Beck quarry has supported Shap Parish Council to bring the village’s public toilets back into use.

We contributed £2,000 towards the refurbishment and maintenance costs of the facility, which was closed last year due to a lack of funding.

A number of local organisations came together to make it happen and Eleanor, Assistant Unit Manager at the quarry, attended to celebrate the reopening alongside parish councillors.

Shap Parish council chairman Jean Jackson said: “The loos are an important amenity for both local residents and the many visitors walking the popular Coast to Coast Path or cycling the LETJOG which both come through our village. We are delighted to have them open to the public again and extremely grateful to Heidelberg Materials for the part it played in making it happen.”
