Sponsored golf day raises funds for local hospital
A charity golf day organised by the Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury raised £2,700 for the Southmead Hospital Walkerbot Appeal and other local charities, with support from our Chipping Sodbury quarry.
We supported the day by sponsoring one of the holes for the 18-hole game. Fourteen teams took part in a closely fought competition at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club, with the team, Dad’s Army, claiming the winning spot.
The total raised will be shared between the Southmead Hospital Walkerbot Appeal, which aims to raise funds for a specialist piece of equipment that will help stroke survivors learn to walk again, and other local causes through the Rotary Club’s charity account.
“We’re grateful to Chipping Sodbury quarry for its sponsorship, along with other local business,” said Ian Joseph, President of Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club. “We held a very successful and enjoyable day, and the funds raised will make a real difference.”
James Brown, Unit Manager at Chipping Sodbury quarry, added: “It’s great to know that our contribution is helping local causes that make a difference in the community, and the golf day is a fun way of getting everyone together in support of them.”
