Stone donation supports Yorkshire Three Peaks footpath repairs
Our Horton quarry has once again donated materials to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNP) to support the ongoing repairs and maintenance of the footpaths along the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks route.
This latest contribution will help improve the safety and accessibility for walkers on the popular walking trail. We donated 150 tonnes of aggregate for the pathway, along with 75 tonnes of pitching stone to provide structural support and prevent erosion.
The work is being carried out by National Park rangers and volunteers along a section of the route to Pen-y-ghent, the smallest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks at 694 metres.
“We’re delighted to make these donations and support the YDNP,” said Simon Garner, Unit Manager.
“It’s rewarding to know that our quarry materials are helping people enjoy the outdoors safely, while protecting the landscape for future generations.”
